Resolve to Get Your Estate Planning Done This Year
The beginning of the year is the perfect time for setting new goals or renewing old ones. The Atlantic recently reported that forty percent of Americans will set goals for 2014 but only eight percent will achieve those goals. One primary reason we fail to achieve our goals, according to the Harvard professor interviewed in the article, is that we fail to deal with underlying issues which keep us treading the same old paths.
What are your goals this year?
Losing weight and spending more time with family are among Americans' top goals each year. Another important goal is taking care of estate planning tasks, including making a will and setting up trusts if needed to preserve assets for yourself and your loved ones as you age, or reviewing existing estate plans to make sure they still fit your needs. Sadly, estate planning often gets overlooked as we settle back into our post-holiday daily routines.
Don't forget the importance of estate planning
This year, make it a point to get your estate planning done early. Make an appointment with yourself to contact an experienced attorney in January to set up an appointment. Otherwise, like many goals, our underlying issues — perhaps the fear of dying — will push the estate planning goal further and further away from the forefront of our minds and make it unlikely to be finished in 2014.
Give yourself the satisfaction of accomplishing an important goal early in 2014 by calling one of our experienced probate lawyers to discuss your needs. Our goal in the new year is to give you the peace of mind that comes with knowing your estate plan is in order.
