Make Sure Your Business Has Liability Coverage

cover Your Asetts_edited-1Texas resident Kendra Youmans is suing Jefferson County, TX, claiming she was injured in an automobile accident caused by county employee Ervin LaBove. According to the lawsuit, a truck owned by the county and driven by LaBove “carelessly backed up and collided with” Youmans. LaBove was allegedly acting within the scope of his employment at the time of the accident. Youmans is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and lost wages, plus property damages.

When you send your employees out to do business in your company vehicle or even their personal vehicles, your business is potentially liable for accidents they cause. Establishing a solid company safety program and providing your employees with regular training and education about driver safety, and perhaps even hosting a defensive driving course at your business, can help limit your liability exposure.

Despite whatever precautions you take, accidents happen. Take the time now to be sure you are covered by adequate insurance. If you have questions about your potential liability and what kinds of insurance you need to cover your business activities, give us a call.

Likewise, if one of your employees has been involved in an on-duty accident, contact an experienced Bryan-College Station, Texas business law attorney. Our attorneys provide assistance and answer questions, including questions regarding potential liability exposure.
